I’m in the business of helping people claim their dreams and then pursue them. Whether it’s a dream job, dream school, or dream relationship, I love helping my clients and fans achieve the seemingly impossible. Despite my dedication to this work, I sometimes find myself silencing my own dreams from time to time.

My eyes got blown wide open these past two weeks about a particular dream that I had let whither away—or rather, one that I had smothered until it stopped breathing.

My closeted dream started to creep back into my life two weeks ago when my boyfriend asked me, “Where do you see yourself in 10 years?” (As two very ambitious, idealistic, Type-A people, we often have lofty conversations about our ideals and visions of the future.)

The answer that immediately sprang to my mind surprised me, but I said it without thinking, “I’ll be a mom.”

90% of my admissions consulting clients are male, and 90% of those guys choose to be single. Some come straight out and tell me why they choose to be single and with others, I figure it out on my own. Since I get dozens of emails about this topic every week from heartbroken women and I talk through this issue with my frustrated male clients at least once a month, I decided we should all have an open conversation about it. So why do so many of my ambitious, young male clients choose to be single—even though they love their (ex-)girlfriends?

Ambitious young men feel like a serious relationship is simply a distraction—or worse, a burden—when they don’t feel on track in their career.

This week only, Forbes is accepting nominations for their annual Top 100 Websites for Women for 2012, and I would LOVE for Kaneisha.com to be one of them!

Although we haven’t officially launched the new site design, for the last three months, I’ve been sending out my Thursday emails called The Love Note, and these are the same blog posts that are up on Kaneisha.com. I have absolutely loved hearing from all of you these past few months, and I hope that lots of you have found my weekly message inspiring and encouraging.
