“Many times people back away from things they want to do, from the dreams they have nurtured, because they cannot envision a clear way to bring those goals to reality. Mama lived by the saying, ‘You must walk by faith and not by sight.’ She believed that if you summon the courage to go after your dream, life will provide the answers.
- Live Your Dreams by Les Brown, motivational speaker and author
I’m in the business of helping people claim their dreams and then pursue them. Whether it’s a dream job, dream school, or dream relationship, I love helping my clients and fans achieve the seemingly impossible. Despite my dedication to this work, I sometimes find myself silencing my own dreams from time to time.
My eyes got blown wide open these past two weeks about a particular dream that I had let whither away—or rather, one that I had smothered until it stopped breathing.
My closeted dream started to creep back into my life two weeks ago when my boyfriend asked me, “Where do you see yourself in 10 years?” (As two very ambitious, idealistic, Type-A people, we often have lofty conversations about our ideals and visions of the future.)
The answer that immediately sprang to my mind surprised me, but I said it without thinking, “I’ll be a mom.”
